Was Mike Parsons 66 ft wave measured on the face or from the back?

They say it was the biggest wave ever surfed but after looking at this

the face seems larger than 70ft so was mike parsons wave measured from the back?

Front. But…big wave contests are measured from where you take off so if you don’t happen to take off at the highest point of the wave you don’t get credit for those extra feet. Go to Billabongxxl.com. There’s a section on how they determine wave height.
