I’ve been renting a board but I’ve decided to go and buy my own. I’m 14 I’m 4 foot 8 and a half and weigh around 30 kgs. What Sized surfboard is right for me? And what are some exercises I can do at home?

For starters, almost any normal stretching routine will work. I NEVER stretch (I know – bad habit), but my friends who do usually work on there arms and shoulders and then stretch out their hamstrings.

As for a surfboard, what you need a surfboard that floats you well enough to paddle and catch a wave at your present skill level. If you are asking questions on YA, and you are 14, I suspect you need a little ‘guidance’. Do Mom and Dad surf?

Don’t waste your time on line, we don’t know anywhere nearly enough about you, or where you surf, and we don’t have an opportunity to discuss these things with you. We aren’t your surfing buddies, we don’t necessarily surf where you or know anybody who does. Go to a good local surf shop (or a shop where ever you usually surf) and discuss your options with the folks in the shop. They can give you far better advice than anybody out here in ‘cyberspace’. And remember, unless its all you can afford, don’t buy a sweat shop made board like NSP http://bp3.blogger.com/_hPACOtZKKko/RkSTwhvv9kI/AAAAAAAAAfg/QMqBFAtXzQ4/s1600-h/chinaboards.jpg
- Or for that matter, any popout:
http://www.mckevlins.com/nopopstory.htm

At the shop, they will discuss what you are looking for in surfing, and what works best in local surf conditions. be concerned for size and design, but don’t get too hung up on "big name" brands, there are tons of great local shapers out there. And, every decent shop has plenty of used boards or boards on consignment for sale.

Be careful about taking on-line advice from kids who may know less about surfing than you do, and the internet phonies.

Anybody who recommends a specific size or design of a surfboard to a stranger on line is foolish. Anybody who would take that advice is MORE foolish.

Good luck with your selection. I have been surfing since 1966, and it has been a lifetime of fun for me

Aloha, I live on Oahu and surf over a 100 days a year and I leave my board out in the sun . I have a couple of stickers on my board that seem to be bullet proof, they are the kind that you rub on using a nickel or something.

will a decal sticker stay on?

If you think that a sticker on your surf board is the way to make you look good, you should certainly go out and buy the biggest pink "Hello Kitty" sticker you can find to decorate your board. That’s what real surfers think of people who think putting stickers on their surf boards will make them look better.

Depends on how far down the nose. If it is the top couple of inches just cut it off clean and put a fiberglass patch there, you don’t really use that part of your board anyway. If it is farther down have a shop fix it.

Zhu Zhu Pets Hamster Toys are the hottest toy for Christmas 2009, it is the must-have holiday toy. They are are the hottest craze among kids age of 3 or 4 and expected to be the most popular toy of the year. BUT… Zhu Zhu Pets are playing the disappearing game. As we close in for the Christmas Holiday the Zhu Zhu pet it is getting more difficult to find and expensive.

These cute robotic creatures melted many hearts, but I had a hard time this Black Friday finding any zhu zhu pets for my kids. Toys R Us had just a 100 for the lucky first in line. I was able to get one, after standing on line for about 2 hrs! I decided I’m not running around town collecting all the pets I need one by one, so I went to Amazon. Yes, of course I paid more but it was worth the peace of mind knowing my kids won’t be disappointed this Christmas Holiday.

Amazon sells Zhu Zhu pets hamster toys for well over $20. It is the best chance of still picking them up in time for the Christmas Holiday. I strongly recommend you don’t wait, especially if your child or grandchild really has their heart set on this toy.

So, you may be wondering, what exactly is the great allure? Zhu Zhu Pets Hamster Toys were formerly called ‘go go pets’. They are amazing toy hamsters that are an engaging and stimulating to children. These little hamster toys look like the real thing but don’t make a mess and can be ignored for as long as you want without them dying or running off. I think they are extremely popular due to the fact that, this is the world’s first innovative, realistic, interactive, plush, and artificially intelligent hamster that talks and moves around in their own play sets.

There are 5 Zoo Zoo Pets, each hamster has its own unique personality and makes whimsical sounds. The kids can’t help but just love them!

*Chunk is the laid-back surfer hamster who is famous for chillin’ out, hangin’ back and layin’ low.
*Pipsqueak she loves to play, explore, run and slide.
*Squiggles he’s a hamster on a mission: Explore Galore, then explore some more.
*Numnums her higly trained sniffer can detect a carrot from a mile away, so stand back and watch her search to find some munchies.
*Patches is the Zhu Zhu pet that is only available as part of a bundled package. The most widely available packages, includes the Funhouse or hamster House Starter Set. Patches is darker yellow in color with a large white patch on its back. Patches loves the flowers and in explore mode, goes about hunting them out. Fortunately Patches will be available in single packs starting November, and this November we will see the release of four new zhu zhu pets Jilly, Winkie, Nugget, and Scoodles.

Zhu Zhu pets are built with two modes;

* The Loving Mode which allows kids to pet them, love them, then hear them squeak and chatter back.
*The Explore Mode the pets drive around in little cars, zip up ramps and spin down slides, run in their hamster wheels, and get into all sorts of crazy situations.

Their artificial intelligence even allows them to know what room of their hamster habitat they are in.They make toilet-flushing or teeth-brushing sounds when they enter the bathroom and sleeping noises and alarm-clock sounds when they go into their bedroom.

The Zu Zu Pets Hamster Toys has multiple accessories available for purchase. Kids love to collect and connect them all to create their own customized hamster habitats.

Here are just a few of the many accessories available for purchase:

• Hamster funhouse
• Hamster wheel and tunnel
• Hamster-mobile and garage
• Spiral slide and ramp
• Adventure ball
• surfboard and sleep dome
• Skateboard and U-turn
• Pet bed and blanket sets.

Anyway, if you don’t feel like hunting all over town for the Zhu Zhu Pets your kids are probably begging for, you can turn to Amazon. Wal- Mart is always sold out, but Amazon seems to have plenty of dealers selling these toys for a bit more money.

Any experienced boardsmen out there that can tell me what to expect?

Well, it aint even worth a hundred bucks now! First of all, I want to move where you live. If you left a board on the roof of your car all night, every night, any place I have ever surfed, I know it wouldn’t be there one morning.

Ii will discolor, warp, the glass will tend to delaminate. the foam blank will begin the break down and the stringer will separate. However, you can probably bang the c$#p out of it for the rest of the summer before it fall apart. You could buy a $25. boardsock to keep it out of the UV rays, but heck, that 25% of the total cost.

By the way, what kind of board is it. If it is a BIC popout, you could probably leave it on your roof in the Sahara and it will hold up. They are junk, but they are darn durable junk.

Get yourself down to the hardware store and buy a spray can of clear coat.

It is important to use short, quick bursts of the spray nozzle. If you just hold the spray nozzle down constantly and use too long or too slow of strokes then you have a very good chance of the clearcoat running…so use short quick burts and long strokes.

Apply the first coat and wait 15 to 30 minutes, then apply a second clear coat and wait another 15 to 30 minutes, then apply a 3rd clearcoat and let completely dry and cure for 12 to 24 hours.

You can apply more then three clearcoats but you may need to wetsand after three coats.
