A Surfer’s Dream

Surf’s Up!

Benidorm, Spain is considered the hottest, most popular resort area on the Costa Blanca. Located about an hour from the Alicante airport, on the Mediterranean Sea, this tourist mecca is home to over 1000 restaurants and 30 nightclubs. Whether you’re traveling with adults or children, you’ll find something to enjoy here.

This area, located north of Alicante and south of Altea, offers the most family fun, with amusement parks and a water park to enjoy during the day. It also offers the most exciting nightlife on the coast. The Terra Mitica amusement park is based on five different ancient civilizations, including Greek and Roman. The Aqualandia Water Park has slides, pools and other water activities the whole family can enjoy. Mundomar Marine Exotic Animal Park boasts dolphins, parrots, turtles, sea lions, penguins and many more animals that are sure to delight children and adults alike.

The history of Benidorm winds through the Phoenicians, the Romans, the Arabs and the Catholic Kings. Each one of these civilizations has left its mark on the city, through architecture and artifacts in museums and churches. You can spend all day wandering through history, walking through ancient buildings and touring ruins. By day, this city is a great place to explore the area through group tours as well as through independent excursions. By night it’s the place for exciting nightlife, from restaurants to bars to nightclubs.

Of the thousands of hotel rooms in Benidorm, the grandest ones can be found at the Hotel Gran Bali. This 52-story hotel is right on the beach, and is the tallest hotel in Europe. It offers the most indulgent of amenities, including a spa, game rooms and heated pools. It also offers rooms with panoramic views of the sea, the mountains or the golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus. Whether you lounge by the pool or enjoy a massage at the spa, your experience at this world-class won’t ever be forgotten.

The two beaches in Benidorm, the Levante and Poniente, are highlights on the Costa Blanca. The Levante beach is the livelier of the two, as it’s the one closest to the city center. Here you’ll find a variety of restaurants and water sports, including waterskiing and surfboard rental. The quieter of the two beaches is Poniente. Here you’ll find an area to relax and sunbathe all day. Rock formations in the Bay of Benidorm create coves to explore from the water. Depending on your mood, you have your choice of a laid-back, tranquil beach or a more upbeat one.

The resort area of Benidorm offers more attractions and activities than nearly any other area in Spain. The perfect weather, beautiful surroundings and ample activities make for a vacation to remember.

  1. Rachel Said,

Good places to go/ things to do in Costa Blanca?
Preferrably the Alicante/Murica area, although we are willing to travel to anywhere within the Costa Blanca region, eg. Benidorm, Valencia, etc.

We are looking for anything that makes a really enjoyable day out, eg. theme parks, water parks… very important one… WATERSPORTS eg. jet skiing!

    Thanks for your help!

  2. LadyTraveller Said,

The Murcia Region is ideal for those in search of relaxation, nature, sport and good food. The mountains here are full of wild game and woodland, and crowned with castles, fortresses, hermitages and convents.

Quiet, sleepy towns, such as Moratalla, Mula, Calasparra, Bullas, Cehegin, Caravaca, Jumilla, Yecla, and numerous other localities open their doors to visitors in search of new things to do and those who want to lose themselves for a few hours among holms, pines, oaks and junipers, visit archaeological sites, experience traditional lifestyles, and, to get their strength back, sit down to a hearty stew, some migas or a tasty dish of game, accompanied by a fine bottle of local Denominación de Origen wine. The more adventurous can paddle down river by canoe, go potholing, climbing, and hiking, horse riding and cycling. It is a question of taste.

Two seas on one coastline – the Mar Menor and the Mediterranean , impressive cliffs, heavenly beaches of endless white sand, lively ports and wild coves with crystal clear water, more than 3,000 hours of sun a year and mild temperatures – even in winter – with a yearly average of more than 17ºC. Costa Calida is the ideal place to spend some days relaxing both in winter and summer.

One of the best tourist complexes in the Mediterranean is La Manga del Mar Menor on that coast. it’s a paradise between two seas with infinite beaches, sandy sea beds and crystal waters, and has an excellent hotel infrastructure.

Fans of water sports will find one of the best places in the world for practising sailing, canoeing, swimming, water-skiing, jet-skiing, flysurfing, windsurfing, catamaranning, and every other type of watersport activity in its numerous clubs, ports and sailing schools. The Nautical Resort on the Mar Menor and similar consortiums in Mazarron and Aguilas offer the chance to hire out equipment, book sailing courses and reserve accommodation at extremely interesting rates.

If it’s Benidorm you fancy then check out this site for lots of info and tips.

In Benidorm there are theme parks and entertainment galore with Terra Mittica, Terra Natura, Mundomar and Aqualandia being just a few.

The whole region is a great place for a holiday- Why not do a 2 centre- Murcia for one week for watersports and Benidorm for it’s theme parks?

All the very best of luck to you

I live and wrk on the south Costa BLanca, Firstly there is a theme park at Benidorm waterparks at torrevieja and benidorm, zoos etc in elche and benidorm. There are watersprots on the beaches around the Campoamor area and scuba diving with Padi instructors fishing trips, hot air ballooning, golf, go kart tracks, bars eateries with cuisines from around the world including kangeroo steak and ostrich, Kids play bars if you have any, Caving, mud baths the list goes on basically something for everyone, You do not have to stay in Benidorm to enjoy all the above you can come further south and be in the middile so it is easy to reach both benidorm when you want to and the Murcia area when you want.
