Recently I became aware of the amount of Tax Agencies becoming littered throughout NZ. In the Malls, online websites and even people promoting door to door! Very sceptical at first, I have never filed for a return in the fear that I may actually owe money and it will not only prove to be fruitless, but a shot in the back.
However after discovering these Tax Agencies I found that they eliminate the risk of getting a return done. Basically because they are a third party, If they calculate your return and find you owe, then they discontinue the process, whereas If you do it yourself and find you owe, then you are legally required to pay that money. Now they do charge a fee but this gets taken out of your return so you never get a bill, only money! This is highly acceptable given that one would pay an accountant $100 an hour and pay this regardless of whether they get a return or not.
So I researched a some agencies and found www.studenttaxrefunds.co.nz .
-They specialise in Student refunds but cater for non-students also.
-They have the lowest processing fee (17.5%)
-They deposit your money straight into your bank account within 20 days, (alternatively they can send a cheque).

Now I am a student , I don’t really work too much and for short periods of time, I didn’t expect much. The online form took less than 5 minutes and I received $250 dollars! This is a great, simple system and more people should file through a Tax Agency. This really helped me out for the summer, the day I received my return I went out and bought me a brand new surfboard!
