What can I say — Laird Hamilton is the shite! And Stacy Peralta is almost as bad as him. First the Bones Bridgade, then DOGTOWN AND Z-BOYS followed by the best surfing doc ever? I think BIG WEDNESDAY will always be my true love of surfing movies, but in the doc-shop, RIDING GIANTS rules. This is a just a clip of the man himself — Laird Hamilton — riding just a wave, that just happens to be one of the greatest rides in surfing history.

    just because a wave …
    just because a wave is bigger it doesn’t make it heavier. there are all kinds of things to consider. the waves you saw him on that were bigger were probably at jaws and it’s really frickin deep over there. but if you look at a picture of this wave you can actually see the reef through the wave. and then if you look at the lip of the wave and compare it to laird, the lip itself is like 3 times thicker than he is tall. so that’s why this wave “so wild” as you put it.
