Surfing Huge Waves in Hawaii

Surfer Mike Parson’s tow-in surfing a 65 foot wave at Jaws (Peahi) on Maui, Hawaii in January 2002. Cinematography by Peter Fuszard. Surfer Magazine called Fuszard’s work, “One of the most brilliantly executed pieces of surf cinematography ever.” Peter is an Emmy Award winning cinematographer and director. BILLABONG XXL (Biggest wave of the year) Contest

If this year’s Billabong XXL Awards are any indication, waves aren’t the only things getting bigger. The known big-wave universe is growing as well. In addition to familiar big waves such as Maverick’s and Todos Santos, XXL finalists have come in from spots that weren’t even known about a decade ago, like Ghost Tree in Monterey, Shipstern’s bluff in Tasmania or Playa Gris in Spain.
