The biggest swell in several years lashed the Hawaiian Islands on December 7, 2009 and Pea’hi (a.k.a. Jaws) on Maui came to life for the cleanest tow-surfing session in ages. An all-star crew was on it, resulting a a number of waves which may figure in the 2009/10 Billabong XXL Big Wave Awards. Plus wipeouts, some really good wipeouts. What can I say — Laird Hamilton is the shite! And Stacy Peralta is almost as bad as him. First the Bones Bridgade, then DOGTOWN AND Z-BOYS followed by the best surfing doc ever? I think BIG WEDNESDAY will always be my true love of surfing movies, but in the doc-shop, RIDING GIANTS rules. This is a just a clip of the man himself — Laird Hamilton — riding just a wave, that just happens to be one of the greatest rides in surfing history.
