A massive south swell hit Teahupoo on Nov 1, bringing some of the biggest and best waves of the year.
Red Bull surfers Jamie O’Brien, Raimana Van Bastolaer, Jamie Sterling, Carlos Burle and Ian Walsh were there to catch some huge pipes.

On November 10, 2007, Gerry Lopez and his surfing hero, Jock Sutherland, gave a slide show presentation entitled “Talkin’ Pipe” at the Patagonia surf shop in Cardiff, California. They talked about their own experiences at Pipeline and shared observations on the current scene there to a backdrop of photos provided by Jeff Divine and Surfer Magazine.
Produced and coordinated by Cardiff store manager Devon Howard, the event drew a standing room only crowd numbering over 550 people. We’re proud to present this multi-part series and hope that it gives you a sense of what it’s like to sit down and hear two surf legends talk story.
